Loren was born in a Minnesota farming community, the seventh son, fifteenth child, to a family totaling sixteen children. The family home was full of music. Everyone could sing, several played piano, others played various wind and string instruments. The radio, phonograph and stereo were going all the time with everything from Country Music to Jazz, Rock, Folk and Classical. He started singing at a very early age and picked up the guitar in High School. After leaving home, Loren performed folk music up through graduation from college and began writing music and lyrics in earnest while also playing in bands and working in recording studios. He traveled to Venezuela and got a job in a recording studio serving the southern Caribbean and northern South America. Salsa, Merengue, Calypso, Ska, Latin jazz, folk and classical groups all recorded there. While there he also played in a Latin jazz group. After two years he returned to Minneapolis and again worked in the local recording studios. His first release incorporates many root musical influences and the musicians performing on the album reflect their musical origins from the Americas (North, Central and South) and Africa.
He calls the music World Folk Fusion, the lyrics are drawn from the family that raised him, the family he raised and the family of man.
Loren has written over four albums of songs and
is presently recording album number two.
He is married, has three children and is living in Minneapolis.
